Foundational Stage (Pre-Nursery to U.K.G)

This is when the child leaves the warmth and comfort of a parent’s care and is sent to a whole new and unfamiliar world, where everyone is a stranger and there are no familiar faces of a mom or a dad. Most parents never forget the first day when they bring their child (especially the first child) to school and have to leave.

It can be intimidating for a parent. It can also be exciting. In the following passages, we hope we can make you feel comfortable and enthusiastic about the very first steps of your child toward an exciting future.

 The fundamental stage ranges from Pre-Nursery to U.K.G classes. This is the first step towards a long and exciting journey of a child’s education. At Cosmos, we ensure the foundation is solid and sturdy to support the ambition and capacity to keep learning throughout the lifetime.

UNICEF has said that every stage of education that follows relies on the success of the pre-primary education stage. We take that seriously here at Cosmos.

Language Skills: Learning and growing is a lifetime prospect, but there are a few crucial skills or abilities that are best instilled at a young age rather than later. One of those skills is language because it has been shown by numerous studies that the language parts of the human brain are highly malleable and receptive around the age of 3 to 10.

We help students develop excellent written and spoken language skills from a young age that become part of their arsenal for a lifetime. The focus is on both English and native tongue languages. Furthermore, students not just learn language, but rather how to use languages effectively for communication and coordination.

Play-Based Educational Activities: Children around this age are highly curious and open to learning new things. However, they cannot distinguish between play and studies. For that reason, our educational methods include play-based activities that a child can naturally engage with. Such methods include toys, fun outdoor activities, playing games with their classmates, interacting with nature, and so on. Our methodologies are constantly updated and refined based on new evidence from scientific studies and experts on education. We make sure we are always fully informed about the psychology of children at a young age and what are the best practices to help them grow in the most healthy and effective way.

Emotional Safety and Development: Daniel Goleman coined the term Emotional Intelligence, as opposed to IQ (Intelligent Quotient) and said that it can be learned and strengthened. Much of the development in one’s emotional quotient occurs early in life. At Cosmos, we are earnest at keeping the environment and interaction with the child such that he or she feels emotionally comfortable, but also, grows emotionally as a person.

In the end, the fundamental stage of education comes down to being observant towards children and finding out their unique styles of learning and behaviour and how to make that uniqueness work in their favour. At Cosmos, we do not stick to any one traditional model of education. Instead, we remain open-minded, attentive, and perceptive.
